Indoor season pans out!
2007 World Championships,
Osaka, Japan

This
past week had three Doyle Track Club athletes competing for
their place in history. Athlete of the month, Adam
Nelson, had a great performance in the men's Shot Put as he
takes home a silver medal to his growing
collection.
Christine
Amertil of the Bahamas started in the Women's 400m. The
heats took place on day two and Amertil easily passed onto the
semifinals crossing the finish line with Joanne Cuddihy of
Ireland in fourth. With the next day came the
semifinals. Amertil was in heat three with the likes of
Brit Nicola Sanders and American DeeDee Trotter.
It
was a tough race and Amertil settled for 5th, missing the time
qualification for finals. Lavern Eve appeared in the
women's Javelin throw. She too failed to make the finals
but was pleased with her performance at her 5th World
Championships

MONICA HARGROVE, 400m

Hargrove
is a graduate of Georgetown University where she was a
member of the women’s track and field team. While
there she was a 3-time All-American. Since then she
has proven to be one of the elite runners in the country,
posting impressive results on the world and national scene
over the past year.
She was a silver medallist at the 2006
Indoor World Championships as a member of the United States
4x400m relay team, qualifying for the team with a fourth
place finish in the 400m at the U.S. Indoor Championships.
At the 2007 US Indoor Championships, Hargrove ran alongside
Deedee Trotter battling for the win. She took home a
silver and a personal best indoor time of 52.26s.
Early in the season on the international circuit Monica suffered an injury
that had her out most of the year. She eagerly
awaits 2008 and her chance to be apart of the US Olympic
Team.
Doyle
Track Club would also like to congratulate Monica on her
recent engagement to fellow US track star Wallace Spearman!
